UAGN presents the results of the Smart Managing Susatainable Wine project in which the D.O. Navarra collaborates and which aims to promote sustainability in the markets.
In this new phase of the project Smart WineIn addition, a series of rigorous control indicators have been established to measure and verify economic, social and environmental sustainability parameters.
In short, the aim is to promote a process or path towards excellence in sustainability where each winery or winegrower will be able to evaluate its current situation in each of the control indicators, in order to know the improvements it needs to implement and improve its degree of sustainability in subsequent evaluations.
The system foresees the intervention of an accreditation and subsequent verification methodology that analyzes the responses obtained in order to certify the information obtained. This system is being protocolized by the D.O. Navarra in a working approach that is also included in the project. Smart Managing Wine.
In order to structure the information on the platform, different levels of information have been established. At the first level are the three pillars, economic, social and environmental; below, the indicators, with aspects to be taken into account, and at a lower level, sub-indicators, associated with questions that are included in the platform's forms.
In order to quantify the qualitative indicators, a hierarchical calculation analysis has been used, which assesses the importance by levels of information. For this purpose, a panel of national and international experts has been used to analyze the different degrees of importance by comparing each level of information, in the pillars, indicators and sub-indicators, the result of which is a percentage that gives us the weight at each level of information, thus converting qualitative information into quantitative information.
