The Regulations of the Designation of Origin "Navarra". and its Regulatory Council were approved by Ministerial Order on June 26, 1975, published in the Official State Gazette on September 5, 1975. The management of the denomination is entrusted to the Regulatory Councilcomposed of representatives of producers and marketers, with the nature of a public law corporation.

According to the Foral Decree 56/2006The Regulatory Council has the following functions:

  • Propose and modify the regulations of the appellation of origin.
  • To ensure the prestige and promotion of the appellation.
  • Manage winegrower and winery registries.
  • Qualify or disqualify products for certification.
  • Issue certificates of origin, seals and warranty labels.
  • Approve commercial labels in aspects related to the appellation of origin.
  • Regulating yields and production aspects according to current regulations.
  • To prepare statistics and report them to the Department of Agriculture.
  • Manage quotas for the financing of the Control Board.
  • To organize the productive potential of vineyards and wineries.
  • Prepare budgets approved by the Administration.
  • Participate in commercial companies and associations related to the appellation of origin.
  • Qualify the vintage or harvest.

The purpose of the Control Board is to represent, defend, guarantee, research and promote the wines protected by the D.O. Navarra.
