95 wines from the Navarra Designation of Origin have been rated as excellent in the latest edition of the Guía Peñín.
The 2021 Peñín Guide to Spanish Wines has been published in its physical format. A comprehensive wine manual aimed at professionals and consumers that enjoys great recognition not only nationally, but also internationally. Its latest edition includes ratings and tasting notes for over 10,500 wines. It references 300 wines from the Navarra Designation of Origin, among whites, rosés, and reds that have been valued with scores above those cataloged as very good wines.
On the podium are the highest ratings that distinguish wines as exceptionalDomaines Lupier La Dama 2017 (97 points) and Domaines Lupier El Terroir 2017 (95 points). In addition, another 91 wines from 30 wineries in the D.O. Navarra have been recognized as excellent and their scores range from 90 to 94 points.
For categories, the elaboration of the Navarra Designation of Origin is represented. Thus, the majority of the wines are red (60%), followed by white wines (17%), and the rest are rosé wines (23%)."Every day, our wines are recognized both at home and abroad in leading guides and the most relevant competitions. The Navarra Designation of Origin is involved in intense promotional activity. On one hand, within the Foral Community, it is working on the campaign "Choose Navarra, choose D.O. Navarra wines," which promotes the consumption of local products among Navarrese and will soon reach supermarkets. Additionally, in Madrid and the Basque Country, another campaign is underway in 20 shopping centers to reward the purchase of Navarra wine with the slogan: "Everything is better with a Navarra." Until November 14th, the D.O. Navarra is raffling off free shopping carts in participating establishments and also, through the website: www.mejorconunnavarra.com.
