Cata Bocata. Stories and wine between bread and bread.

Cata Bocata is launching a different way to tell the story of and taste Pamplona. The new cultural and gastronomic leisure proposal kicks off with “Roguish Medieval Pamplona” (Pamplona Medieval Canalla): a tour created for the occasion, three D.O. Navarra wines tied to the story, and an exclusive sandwich at La Viña Gastroteka. An experience with very limited spots that will only happen once.

Stories and wine between bread and bread, a new format that brings together history, wine, gastronomy, and music to discover the city from a different perspective. Its first edition, “Roguish Medieval Pamplona,” will be held on Wednesday, August 26, with a tour created expressly for that evening and far removed from the conventional guided tour. Historian Aitziber Imízcoz will lead the participants through characters, episodes, conflicts, anecdotes, and gossip of old Iruña that allow us to look differently at places we have passed through hundreds of times. “We are interested in that history that does not usually make the big headlines: the details, the contradictions, and the people that help us understand how the city was truly lived. Sometimes a small story is enough to never look at a street the same way again,” Imízcoz explains. The tour will end at La Viña Gastroteka, a traditional establishment on Jarauta Street that will open for the occasion. There, journalist Elena Arraiza will lead a tasting of three wines
Navarra D.O. wines selected for their connection to the medieval tale. “Every wine tasting happens only once. The wines, the place, the people, and the conversations change. At Cata Bocata, furthermore, every wine has a reason and is part of what we are telling,” points out Arraiza.

And between history and wine, the sandwich. Cata Bocata champions one of the simplest and most popular forms of our gastronomy: a good sandwich around a table or a bar. La Viña will prepare one expressly for that afternoon, outside of its usual menu, which will be accompanied by musical atmosphere. That story, those wines, that sandwich, La Viña, and the people who happen to be together on August 26 will not meet again under the same circumstances. The next Cata Bocata will be another story, with other wines and another sandwich.

“Pamplona Medieval Canalla” inaugurates a series of new Cata Bocata events that will be presented progressively. Capacity is very reduced and spots are limited. Tickets cost 45 euros and include a historical tour, a guided tasting of three D.O. Navarra wines, a sandwich created for the occasion, and musical atmosphere.
