The Control Board of the D.O. Navarra collaborates with the educational community of CI Burlada FP in a solidarity initiative to collect funds for the Food Bank of Navarra.
This project was born last year by the students of the Higher Level Vocational Training Course in Restaurant Services Management led by their Sommelier teacher, Rubén Montaño. "Message in a bottle" consists of a charity tasting and the subsequent sale of the wines, donated by the Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Navarra.
In addition, the students are responsible for developing videos with guided tastings of the different wines and link them to QR codes that are incorporated into the bottles by means of stickers. In this way, students deepen their knowledge of each of the wines tasted and share their learning through these informative videos.
At this year's charity tasting, €375 was collected and donated in full to the Food Bank of Navarra. This foundation, created in 1995, currently helps almost 25,000 people living in Navarre.
Alicia Oria, director of the center, presented the check-donation to Marisol Villar, President of the Food Bank of Navarra, and to Gema Santamaría, head of the Awareness Area, on Wednesday, January 25.
The event was also attended by Elena Arraiza, manager of the DO Navarra Wine Regulatory Board, and Sara Clemente, the Board's Communications Manager. "From the Control Board we support this magnificent training initiative for which the students have done a great job with a solidary purpose. Perhaps among them are the sommeliers of the future, fundamental links in the chain of production and commercialization of our wines", said Elena Arraiza, manager of the Control Board.
The meeting was notable for the reciprocal gratitude between the teachers and students participating in this activity, the D.O. Navarra Control Board and the Food Bank.
"Message in a Bottle" combines dedication, innovation, knowledge, professionalism and one of the most necessary values in our society, which the three institutions are committed to: solidarity.
