Mar 16, 2019

The Regulatory Council is organizing a visit to the Navarra Designation of Origin for a group of buyers from Holland to get a feel for the region and learn about its new developments.

A group of buyers from Holland is visiting Denomination of Origin Navarra on a reverse mission organized by the Regulatory Council. The professionals toured the region for two days to learn about the participating wineries: Inurrieta Winery, Marqués de Montecierzo Wineries, Escudero Wineries, Sada Winery, Quaderna Vía Wineries, Olimpia Wineries, Otazu Winery, Príncipe de Viana Wineries, Marco Real Wineries, Sarría Winery, Nekeas Wineries, and Ochoa Wineries.

On their tour, they have highly praised the area and the particular characteristics of the Navarra Designation of Origin with its versatility and richness of elaborations: white, rosé, and red wines. With the visit of these buyers, we are launching a series of reverse trade missions that we expect to receive throughout the year. We are betting on this formula because our wineries have shown great interest in it, as it is an opportunity for them to get to know our house, our region, and its value through a unique and memorable experience."Jordi Vidal, manager of the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Navarra, commented.

Netherlands is one of the traditional countries in the marketing of D.O. Navarra wines. Last year, more than 700,000 liters of wine were sold in the country, representing 8% of the Denomination of Origin's total exports. More than half of the liters correspond to red wines. Spain is the fifth largest exporter of wine to the Netherlands, behind France, Germany, Chile, and Italy. Bottled wine leads Spanish sales in the Dutch market. According to the report prepared by the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in The Hague, red wines are the most valued by consumers in the country, although an increase in demand for white wines is expected.

The next event on the international promotion calendar being developed by the Regulatory Council will be held in New York where is the participation in the Usa Trade Tasting fair planned, which is aimed exclusively at trade professionals and takes place on May 13th and 14th.% its marketing around the 13th compared to the same period last year. Abroad, the United States and the United Kingdom are both traditional markets for the Navarra Denomination of Origin and show very positive performance, along with China, which continues to maintain its leadership.
