David Palacios, president of the Navarra Designation of Origin, has been re-elected as head of the Spanish Conference of Wine Regulatory Councils for the next four years.
The elections took place within the framework of the General Assembly of the Spanish Conference of Wine Regulatory Councils which was held in the Galician town of Monforte de Lemos, in the heart of the Ribeira Sacra. There, David Palacios was re-elected as president of CECRV, the association that represents the wine appellations of origin in this country. Thus, the D.O. Navarra is revalidated at the head of the organization for the next four years that make up a new legislature. The position has been held for the past three years by Palacios who was elected with a turnout of about 100% of the electoral roll, to head the Board of Directors formed by twelve regulatory councils that have also been voted in the same process. "I face a new stage with enthusiasm and assuming the responsibility that this entails. Of course, with the support of the appellations of origin that we walk united today more than ever to fight together for the same objectives for the benefit of the entire sector", President affirms after his investiture.
CECRV, with Navarra in its presidency, will work in the coming years to give continuity to the direction already set in the previous legislature but at this time, stepping on the accelerator. The organization is the current interlocutor of the designations of origin for the wine sector as it has grown exponentially, representing 98% of the country's wine regulatory councils. This has strengthened its presence in institutions and forums, not only in Spain but also in Europe. Palacios highlights the unity of the members of the Conference and the good harmony and communication as a challenge achieved today within the entity and the relationships established with other organizations and associations that make up the wine sector, responsible for setting its course.
Looking to the future, Palacios together with the representatives of the Board of Directors will continue working to reinforce the value of the appellations of origin as a guarantee of quality for the consumer, economic drivers of the regions and to promote the wine culture of this country from the loudspeaker of CECRV. Thus, to ensure that Spanish wines have the value they deserve by highlighting the rich winemaking heritage of each corner of this country, with its different identities, where wines are produced that must compete in the international market face to face with other producing countries, at the same level.
