Sep 12, 2023

The Navarra Denomination of Origin has presented its campaign and new positioning that praises its Garnacha rosés and reds in an exclusive tasting held in the city of Malaga.

This Monday, September 11, the D.O. Navarra held a party where the rosésthe authenticity of its Grenache and the freshness of its wines have been the protagonists. The event organized by the Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Navarra in collaboration with Peñín, took place at the Terraza de San Juan in Malaga, a fashionable place with the best views of the city.

The presentation was attended by a select group of professionals in the sector from all over the province of Malaga (sommeliers and purchasing managers from restaurants and hotels, representatives of distributors, specialized stores and department stores, and the media) who were able to taste the quality of the ten rosés and ten reds with the best scores in the Navarra 2023 D.O. Navarra Wine Selection. The rosés present at the event were produced by Aroa Bodegas, Bodega Campos de Enanzo, Bodega Inurrieta, Bodega de Sada, Bodega de Sarría, Bodegas Aguirre, Bodegas Las Campanas, Bodegas Malón de Echaide, Bodegas Marqués del Atrio and Finca Albret. The red wines belong to Bodega de Liédena, Bodega Tandem, Bodegas Marco Real, Bodegas Olimpia, Bodegas San Martín, Bodega y Viñedos Ubeta, Finca La Cantera de Santa Ana, Pagos de Araiz, Unsi and Viña Zorzal Wines.

The festival was part of the "Born to please" campaign and served to showcase in Malaga the three pillars that have made the Navarra D.O. one of the most renowned in our country: the rosé winesthe Garnacha variety and the freshness across the board in all its elaborations.

"Navarra is living a vibrant moment with a new fixed course to reconquer the markets. This is only the beginning of the roadmap on which we are working intensely in the hope of placing the Designation of Origin in its rightful place. It is important to have a clear objective and to strengthen ourselves even more when the wine sector is currently operating in a hostile environment", says the manager of the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Navarra, Elena Arraiza.

Historically, Navarre is a rosé region and is maintained each year as market leader nationally, with a share of 30%. Its red and rosé wines are mainly made with Garnacha, the most representative grape of the area, which in Navarra acquires particular features: it is a "atlantic grenache".Those attending the event had the opportunity to pair the tasting with a cocktail made with quality products from Navarre. Reyno Gourmetsuch as Asparagus from Navarra, Piquillos de Lodosa, Chistorra Navara and Roncal and Idiazabal Cheese.
