Medals D.O. Navarra in the International Competition "Grenaches du Monde".

The jury of the competition, held this year in New York, has selected the Best Grenache Wines of the World and among them has included 10 wines from D.O. Navarra. 

For the first time in its history, the "Grenaches du Monde" International Competition has moved away from the European territory to position itself in the North American market. For this reason, the 2023 edition has favored the promotion of Grenache wines, attracting the attention of the specialized press, importers, buyers and influencers in the United States.

Garnacha is the most representative native variety of the Navarra Denomination of Origin and obtaining this award, in addition to highlighting the quality of the wines made from this grape, helps consumers to distinguish the best Garnacha wines produced in the world, providing a seal of quality, a selection criterion and a mark of confidence in an increasingly diverse and complex production. The medals obtained by the D.O. Navarra in the different categories were:

"The freshness of Garnacha is in fashion and this is a great opportunity for the Navarra D.O. and its full potential. Navarre Garnacha differs from that of other areas because it is fresher, less alcoholic and has a unique acidity, attributes that are trendy and meet the demands of professionals and consumers", says David Palacios, manager of the Regulatory Council of the Navarra Denomination of Origin.

In 2013, the Interprofessional Council of Roussillon Wines organized the first competition dedicated to this variety. "Grenaches du Monde" quickly became an itinerant event, visiting Grenache wine producing regions every year. The 2022 edition was held in Olite, Navarra, where the headquarters of the Regulatory Council of the Navarra D.O. is located.
