Expectations fulfilled at Prowein

The wineries participating in the institutional stand that INTIA-Reyno Gourmet and the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Navarra are promoting at the international wine fair held in Germany have rated the experience very positively, with more than 300 contacts established.   

The D.O. Navarra values very positively its participation in the recent edition of the ProweinThe event was held in Düsseldorf, Germany, the leading trade fair for the international wine sector, which is held annually in the German city of Düsseldorf. On this occasion, a renovated institutional stand promoted by INTIA-Reyno Gourmet and the Control Board welcomed 17 wineries: Alex Quality Vineyards, Inurrieta, Wineries Máximo AbeteAsensio Wineries and Vineyards, Wineries Monjardín Castle, Wineries and Vineyards Alzania, Wineries Vega del Castillo, Wineries Ochoa, Wineries FoothillsAliaga VineyardTandem, Wineries Marquis of Montecierzo, Wineries Olympia, Bodega de Sada, Wineries and Vineyards Quaderna Via, Wineries Malon de Echaide y Zorzal Vineyard Wines. The fair has once again surpassed its records with the participation of 6,870 exhibitors from 64 countries and has received the visit of 60,000 professionals, according to the organization's data. A great attendance that has been received with optimism by the companies from Navarra, which made more than 300 contacts. In addition, the enoteca installed in the stand D.O. Navarra was visited by numerous professionals who were able to taste freely about fifty white, rosé and red wines from the wineries mentioned above, in addition to: Bodegas Pagos de Aráiz, Bodegas Marco Real, Bodega Otazu, Bodegas Nekeas, Bodega de Sarría and Bodegas Irache. With these wineries and those that had their own exhibitor, DO Navarra was represented by 33 wineries that represent more than 84% of the total sales of the appellation in Germany.

This great global event of the wine sector was attended by the Minister of Rural Development, Environment and Local Administration of the Government of Navarra, Isabel Elizalde, who visited the wineries present along with the president of the D.O. Navarra, David Palacios, and the managers of INTIA and the Control Board respectively, Juanma Intxaurrandieta and Jordi Vidal.

The year has started with positive figures for DO Navarra wines in the German market. In January, around 140,000 liters of wine were sold, which represents a increase of more than 7% of commercialization compared to the same period of the previous year. This increase in sales has been mainly led by white wines. There are around 50 wineries operating in Germany, making it the second most important international destination for Navarra wines.
