Best Wines of Navarra D.O. Awards Ceremony

More than a hundred people attended the official awards ceremony that took place in the Elizabethan cloister of the Navarre Institute of Public Administration, INAP, in Pamplona.  

The Regulatory Council of the D.O. Navarra has presented the Best Wines of Navarra Awards in the Elizabethan cloister of the Navarre Institute of Public Administration, INAP, in Pamplona. The official ceremony was attended by more than a hundred people, including the Minister of Rural Development, Environment and Local Administration of the Government of Navarra, Isabel Elizalde. Authorities, representatives of the wine sector and the social and political scene of Navarra have witnessed the third edition of the official presentation of these awards, since the official competition was established. "Our identity and that of our wines merge into a single reality. For this reason, in Navarra we will continue to support the quality model embodied by the D.O. Navarra. A model that allows us to be competitive and to weave wealth throughout the territory where it is produced and to which it belongs. We will continue, yes, to fight in favor of quality wines, therefore, in favor of our identity.Elizalde explained at the closing of the celebration.

Nineteen wines produced by wineries of the D.O. Navarra have been recognized. Four white wines, one rosé and fourteen red wines that will be from now on the ambassadors of the Designation of Origin in those promotional activities organized by the Control Board, in which they are required. The awards correspond to the different traditional categories in the elaboration of this region: Best D.O. Navarra White, Rosé, Young Red, Oak Red, Crianza Red, Reserve Red, Sweet White and Best D.O. Navarra White Wood and Red Wood Wines. "These wines are born with international character but also to be hosts in our land. From the Control Board we appeal to the commitment of our region with the products that we grow and produce here, such as the wine that has Navarra as its origin..", claimed the president of the D.O. Navarra, David Palacios.

The list of winners is the result of a blind tasting where a jury composed of 30 professional members of the sector, including oenologists and sommeliers, analyzed nearly 180 samples submitted by fifty wineries.

Turmalina, in an intimate format and with a reduced capacity, becomes the first sustainable festival in the region. The line-up will be made up of Sidonie, Carlos Sadness, Depedro, Jenny and The Mexicats, La Habitación Roja, Mäbu and Eme DJ who will perform on three small stages, where proximity to the audience will be a priority.

Gastronomy and wine will play a leading role in Turmalina Music & Wine Fest. On the one hand, "Flavors of the Reyno". will be a prominent space in the enclosure where a haute cuisine proposal will be offered, from the stoves of the young Navarrese chef Iñaki Andradas. On the other hand, Turmalina is an exclusively wine festival where attendees can enjoy the wines of the Designation of Origin Navarra. White, rosé and red wines from the participating wineries will be served by the glass and, thanks to the bartender Carlos Rodríguez, national cocktail champion, will also be the basis for mixtures, cocktails and mixed drinks as a proposal of high quality drinks with low alcohol content.  

Turmalina Music & Wine Fest is a must for lovers of good music, gastronomy and wine. wine in a unique outdoor environment. A leisure and tourism experience that will feature entertainment activities for the dissemination of wine culture and also a market of designers and independent artists that will encourage and promote responsible, sustainable and local consumption.

The general ticket is priced at 30 euros plus distribution costs.
