Elmundovino praises a Navarra Garnacha as "the red wine of the year" in Metropoli.
Señora de las Alturas 2016 from Viña Zorzal Wines has been recognized by Elmundovino for Metropolis as the red of the year. And furthermore, it praises it as a champion of the Grenache grape variety.
Specifically, Juancho Asenjo's handwritten article describes it as follows:
"Thus, the "vino tinto del año," Viña Zorzal Wines Señora de las Alturas 2016It praises a grape variety, Grenache, which has suffered more blows than any other of ours in recent decades, and it does so with the subtlety and elegance characteristic of a variety that grew in France while we disdained it here.
We repeat our annual warning: the awards are not intended to identify "the best wine of the year" in a point-based ranking, but rather to highlight great qualities, from elegance to tradition, including the recovery of minor or endangered grape varieties, abandoned or forgotten wine regions from which quality wines are re-emerging, or wines with great value for money.
