The D.O. Navarra travels to Germany to celebrate "Navarra Wine Days".The event is organized by the Control Board on September 23 and 24 in the cities of Hamburg and Mainz, respectively. In addition, there will be an exhibition of the participating wineries and a gastronomic event in which the wines will be harmonized with the cuisine of the area. " Germany is one of our main traditional markets and we perform very well in it, so every year we keep our appointment with this country, which welcomes us in a very positive way."Jordi Vidal, manager of the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Navarra, commented.
A report on the German wine market prepared by ICEX indicates the trends shown in this country. Among them, it indicates the importance of regionality, the image of the country of the wine and followed by its origin, in addition to native grape varieties, specific terroirs ... Specifically, they value the specific variables to achieve differentiation that expresses the authenticity of the wine. In addition, there is a consumer preference for wines that are more expressive of the variety and fresh. Thus, these characteristics are found in the Navarra Denomination of Origin, which has wines adapted to the demand of the German market.
Last year, nearly 1,800,000 liters of wine were marketed in Germany of which more than 50% were reds. 2018 was particularly positive for rosé sales which saw an increase of over 30%. In the first half of the year, nearly one million liters were exported to the German-speaking country.
