The Control Board of the D.O. Navarra has organized the last international action of the first half of the year. Buyers have toured the Designation of Origin to take the pulse of the region through the participating wineries.
16 wineries The Navarra D.O. wineries have participated in the action organized by the Control Board in which a group of professionals from Russia have toured the region to get to know its wines: Bodegas Príncipe de Viana, Bodegas Marco Real, Bodegas Logos, Bodegas Ochoa, Bodega de Sarría, Bodegas Castillo de Monjardín, Bodegas Piedemonte, Bodega Otazu, Bodega San Martín, Bodegas y Viñedos Alzania, Bodega Inurrieta, Bodegas Marqués de Montecierzo, Tandem, Bodegas Pagos de Aráiz, Bodegas Máximo Abete, Bodegas Manzanos-Campanas.
The buyers that made up the group have taken the pulse of the Denomination of Origin Navarra concluding their gratifying experience in which they have verified the quality of the wines of which they have no doubt that they will find a niche in their market. Spanish wine has a good positioning in Russia, according to the study conducted by ICEX, and has improved a lot in recent years, being a well-known product among importers. All the analyses agree that it is a growing market that values specialization and local values, as well as wines with personality, on the one hand, of high ranges and, on the other hand, of a more economical segment. According to the manager of the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Navarra, Jordi Vidal: "The market is growing and values specialization and autochthonous values.Spanish wine is experiencing an enormous progression in Russia and Navarra is called to play a good role. Buyers have appreciated the quality of our wines, their typicity and styles that can match very well with the tastes of their consumers.". Last year about 80,500 liters of wine were marketed in Russia, of which more than half were reds. This is an opportunity, so the D.O. Navarra is promoting itself to open the doors to its wineries.
The reception of this visit by Russian professionals concludes the international actions promoted by the Control Board held in the first half of the year until after the summer. In September they will begin again with a tour of two cities in Germany, one of the main markets for the D.O. Navarra, which will host their respective events aimed at professionals in the country.
