The Navarra Wine Brotherhood has celebrated in Olite the twenty-ninth edition of the Navarra Wine Harvest Festival, one of the most important events organized by the institution and attended by hundreds of people.
On Sunday Olite was once again impregnated with the colors and aromas of grapes and wine in the XXIX Navarra Grape Harvest Festival organized by the Navarra Wine Guild with a large attendance. After the reception at the town hall and the subsequent parade, the person in charge of reading the proclamation that officially announces the new harvest was the member of the "Los Lobos" team, Manuel Zapata, winner of the television program "Boom", which broke the record for participation and the amount of money received as a prize. The man from Tafalla, devoted to his cinematographic facet, gave an emotional speech: "Thanks to watching films, I have assimilated many of the things I know and, of course, I have also learned very interesting aspects about wine", indicated. Her relationship with him begins in her childhood: "I had to go to the grape harvest to earn a little money and proudly show the scars on my hands from the cuts produced by that little sickle". The preacher was awarded the XIII Hocete de Plata by the president of the Cofradía del Vino de Navarra, David Palacios, who commented: ".Much has changed in these 29 years the grape harvest. The sickle that we deliver today has given way to the grape harvester. But the illusion and the effort that today make us produce the magnificent wines of our land remains intact.". In the event, which proceeded to the traditional treading of grapes, analysis of the must, assessment of its quality by the winemaker, Javier Ochoa and subsequent tasting, was enlivened by the choreography of the School of Dance and the School of Olite Jacks.
As every year, the fountain in the Plaza Carlos III El Noble emanated wine to the delight of the attendees among which were: the president of the Parliament of Navarra, Unai Hualde, the Minister of Rural Development and Environment of the Government of Navarra, Itziar Gomez and the mayor of Olite, Maite Garbayo. After the main event, neighbors, visitors and members of the brotherhoods were able to enjoy the white, rosé and red wines of the participating wineries: Gran Feudo, Piedemonte, Marco Real, Nekeas, Finca Albret, Dominio Lasierpe, Máximo Abete, Sada, Olimpia, Irache, Pago de Cirsus, Malón de Echaide, Beramendi, Inurrieta, Valdelares, Unsi, San Martín, Cosecheros Reunidos, Príncipe de Viana, Ochoa, Pagos de Aráiz, Vega del Castillo, Azul and Garanza and the wines of Gonzalo Celayeta Wines and EVENA. From each glass sold for the tasting, 50 cents will be donated to those affected by the recent floods in the Comunidad Foral.ble Limited Edition 2018.
