Santafé brings extensive experience and knowledge of the wine sector in the management and direction of some of the most important winemaking groups in the national wine scene. His incorporation marks the beginning of a new direction for the promotion of the Navarra Denomination of Origin.
Javier Santafé has been appointed managing director of the Consejo Regulador de la Denomination of Origin Navarra. Born in the Navarrese town of Valtierra, he has developed his training in important university centers in Spain and France. He holds a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Navarra in Pamplona, in the region of Navarra, and has a Master's Degree in Viticulture, Enology and Wine Business Management from the University of Valencia. In addition, his studies are completed with the recognized "Master of Science in Wine Management" of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) and the University of Paris Nanterre.
Santafé brings to the position a work experience of more than 25 years, developed in the wine sector of which he has a vast knowledge due to his experience in the management of relevant groups and wineries of the national scene. His professional career began at the Viñas del Vero winery in Barbastro (Huesca) as sales and marketing director for seventeen years. After working for the Faustino Group in Oyón (Álava), he has developed his work in the Paternina Group in Haro (La Rioja) and then continued this work in the Roqueta Origen Group in Manresa (Barcelona) from 2014 until today, when he returns to his homeland.
The incorporation of Javier Santafé to the direction and management of the Control Board is a boost for the beginning of a new stage aimed at the strategic repositioning of the D.O. Navarra in the national and international market. "I arrive in Navarra with enthusiasm to devote all my efforts to embark on a course that can provide an exciting future for all of us who are part of this Denomination of Origin."says the managing director.
The Designation of Origin Navarra is made up of 85 wineries and 1,900 winegrowers working an area of 10,272 hectares of vineyards. The Regulatory Council is the entity in charge, among other things, of managing the appellation of origin, issuing quality and guarantee certificates and defending and promoting the Navarra brand in the different markets within and beyond its borders.
