The Navarrese town of Olite will host the tenth edition of this prestigious competition, which will take place from May 4th to 6th, 2022.
For three days, about a hundred national and international wine industry professionals will taste around 1,000 Grenaches to select the best in the world.
The D.O. Navarra has been chosen as the venue for the 10th Edition of the “Grenaches du Monde” (Garnachas del Mundo) competition.Grenaches du Monde), an international competition dedicated to this grape variety and its preferred terroirs. Around a hundred national and international professionals from the wine sector (importers, distributors, journalists, and sommeliers, among others) will gather in the Navarran town of Olite from May 4 to 6 to taste more than 1,000 Garnachas and select the best in the world.
The choice of Olite as the venue for the competition reaffirms the D.O. Navarra's commitment to Garnacha, an emblematic variety of the region, from which excellent red, rosé, and white wines are made.
"For the competition and its precursor, the Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins du Roussillon, it is a pleasure to see the large family of Grenaches du Monde grow with Navarra as a partner. In Olite, we have found an ally who shares these very "Grenache-like" values: generosity, conviviality, and friendship. We have no doubt that the quality of this future edition is very promising," explains Fabrice Rieu, president of the competition.
"We are thrilled to have been selected to host this prestigious international competition. This recognition encourages the wineries and winegrowers of the D.O. Navarra to continue with the effort and work they have been doing to place Navarra on the global Garnacha map, as this variety is the most deeply rooted in the Navarra territory," states David Palacios, president of the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Navarra.
"Garnachas del Mundo" is an annual competition open to all Grenache wines, with no restrictions on color, origin, or nationality.
