During these days, the Navarra Denomination of Origin has been visited by a group of Swiss professionals who have toured the wine map of the region through the following wineries participating in the action: Bodegas Marco Real; Bodega Inurrieta, Bodegas Caudalía, Bodega Otazu, Bodega de Sada, Bodegas Manzanos Campanas, Grupo Vitilia, Bodegas Castillo de Monjardín, Bodegas Príncipe de Viana, Bodegas Máximo Abete, Bodega San Martín, Bodegas Marqués de Montecierzo, Bodegas La Casa de Lúculo, Bodega Nekeas, Bodega de Sarría, Bodegas Escudero, Bodegas Pagos de Araiz, Bodegas Gran Feudo and Bodegas Pago de Larrainzar.

Buyers and journalists from Switzerland, who have coincided with one of the most striking moments of the vineyard cycle, the grape harvest, have valued very positively the action organized by the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Navarra. In particular, they were especially interested in the red wines made from Garnacha and the Chardonnay whites, which have a recognized tradition in the region. From their point of view, these are wines that could be attractive to the Swiss palate. They also highlighted the quality of all the wines.

The Swiss country ranks fourth in the ranking of markets to which the Navarra Designation of Origin directs its exports. Last year, nearly 750,000 liters of Navarra wine were sold in Switzerland, of which more than half were red wines, most of them Crianza. Switzerland is among the top ten importing countries for Navarra. It has long been an important market for our wines, which are appreciated by its consumers. With this action we wanted them to get to know us better, to walk through our vineyards and soak up our identity", said Elena Arraiza, manager of the Control Board of the D.O. Navarra.

According to data from the 2021 Spanish Wine Market Observatory report, Switzerland imported bottled wine at a higher price than Italian wine for the first time in its history. It also increased its wine marketing by 3.8% in volume and 16% in value, to 188.2 million liters and 1,343 million francs, at the highest average price in its history, at 7.13 CHF/l.
