Navarra participates in Spain's Great Match, Chicago

The Navarra Denomination of Origin presents its wines and its region in this event aimed at American professionals and gastronomic enthusiasts to learn, taste and enjoy the wines and gastronomy of Spain.

Spanish flavors have been the protagonists of the Spain's Great Match 2023 in Chicago, an event of recognition in the North American agenda for professionals of the sector to discover the rich enogastronomic heritage of our country.

The day's program, organized by Foods and Wines from Spain from ICEXhas allowed us to deepen our knowledge of the D.O. Navarra through an immersive presentation and tasting entitled "Navarra Wines, the freshness & authenticity from Northern Spain".

Regine Rousseauwine expert, writer and media personality in the world of wine and wine tourism. Wanda Coleadvanced sommelier; together with David Palacios and Elena Arraiza, president and manager of the Navarra D.O.respectively, have been responsible for bringing the freshness of the whites, rosés and reds of Garnacha from this Denomination of Origin.

Navarra, from thediscovering the particularities of its terroir, the excellence of its rosés and the authenticity and freshness of its northern garnachasThe most representative native variety, characterized by its freshness, lightness and unique acidity.

"Our successful participation and reception at Spain's Great Match 2023 shows us once again the great quality of Navarra wines and the winemaking excellence of our wineries. Professionals, press, opinion leaders and enthusiasts have shown their interest in our wines and especially in our rosés, expressing the need to expand this category with appellations such as ours. Another triumph has been to put the focus on our Garnacha wines, since the current public, both professionals and consumers, are looking for fresh, light and less alcoholic wines, and this is exactly what they have found in the Garnacha wines from the north of our appellation".explains the president of the Regulatory Council of the D.O. According to data from 2022, exports represent 30% of the total commercialization of D.O. Navarra wines and the United States is the fifth most important market behind Germany, China, U.K. and Switzerland. With regard to rosés, the D.O. Navarra is the lnational market leader with a 30% share of total sales in this category.
