The Regulatory Council of the D.O. Navarra organized a professional event in Düsseldorf with a group of wineries with great success in attendance.
The Denomination of Origin Navarra has traveled this October to Germany, one of the main destinations for its exports. The objective was to communicate the identity and personality of the wines of this wine region and strengthen its positioning based on its renowned Garnacha rosés and reds. This international promotion action was carried out in Düsseldorf, the country's business center, specifically in ZurHeide, the country's largest high-end gourmet supermarket located in the center of the city. The more than one hundred professionals who attended the event were importers, buyers from large chains, sommeliers, restaurateurs and the most important journalists and specialized press agents in the sector.
The day consisted of a wineries' lounge where the attendees were able to taste the references presented by the following wineries Bodegas Aroa, Bodega de Sada, Bodegas La Casa de Lúculo, Bodegas Máximo Abete, Bodegas Navarrsotillo, Quaderna Vía, Bodegas San Martín, Bodegas y Viñedos Ubeta and Bodegas Valcarlos. In addition, the German taster and renowned journalist David Schwarzwälder has offered a master tasting with the wines selected by the wineries in which he shared his knowledge about the D.O. Navarra and has further developed the quality of its rosés, the authenticity of the Navarran Garnacha grape and the freshness inherent in all the wines of this appellation.
The tasting took place at the Michelin-starred restaurant "Setzkasten" located in the same center, whose chefs prepared a cocktail to harmonize the wine show. The tasting served to close the event in an open and relaxed atmosphere between wineries and professionals, ideal to promote contacts and networking.
"Germany is a key destination in the sector. It is a large, mature and economically stable market, but with fierce competition. It was clear to us that in order to attract attention we had to do something differentiating. After seeing the success of the event, we can affirm that we have succeeded. Therefore, the participating wineries and the Control Board make a positive assessment of this promotional action in Germany. The export business is very important and at this event we have had the opportunity to strengthen our brand and expand the international trade relations of our wineries". declares Elena Arraiza, manager of the D.O. Navarra Regulatory Council.
Exports account for 30% of the total sales of the Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Navarra. Historically, Germany is the most important importing country in the region. Currently, more than 1,300,000 liters of Navarra Denomination of Origin wine are marketed, mostly red. So far this year, up to September, sales have increased by 1.17% in the Teutonic market.
