The consortium of this project, led by UAGN and formed by the D.O. Navarra, INTIA and Bodega de Li\u00e9dena, takes positive stock of the results obtained in the first stage in the definition of indicators applicable in the field and winery in terms of environmental, social and economic sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These indicators will make it possible to determine the degree of implementation of a sustainable production system in the sector, in such a way that social and economic aspects are evaluated in an innovative way, where the farm and the winery participate in the same ecosystem in the rural environment of special importance. In this way, aspects such as the presence of priority farms in the territory, the rate of generational replacement, risk prevention, continuous training or the income generated, become benchmarks to determine the effective sustainability of wine production and winemaking. This vision, which measures the social impact, allows the development of actions to reduce the environmental footprint, is aligned with the principles and challenges that the new CAP reform post-2020 intends to face and allows the sector to make its roots and territorial importance visible in the fight against depopulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thus, the Smart Sustainable Wine consortium is looking ahead to continue working on a second phase of the project, which will consolidate the results obtained to date and test them on a larger scale with the incorporation of new technologies for the management of indicators and integration into a sustainability certification procedure.
